Episode 5

Last week was all about comedy, this week it’s musicals. Yesterday we announced two musicals coming in 2018 with one going up on sale.

“Skin Deep” which will be having a run at the King’s Head Theatre in London this December will be on stage at The Broadway on 12th May 2018. A show about body image, diets and selfies the show is a humorous musical revue ending with a comedic strip routine. Be careful if you’re sat in the front row…

Also announced is “All or Nothing”. The hit mod musical will be rolling its Vespas into Peterborough in June 2018 for a four night run following a stint at the Arts Theatre in the West End starting in February.

I also have two other hit musicals in the pipeline but, tantalisingly, I am not liberty to divulge anything further. (Unless you pass me a pinot in Walter’s of course…).This weekend, on Saturday, I am very pleased to be welcoming Olivier Award winners “Showstopper!” to the theatre. I will be sure to have my suggestions ready and watch as the extremely talented troupe write and perform a musical before my very eyes.

From musicals to music, we hosted the Fletch’s Brew Jazz Night in the Broadway Suite last Wednesday. Ronnie Scott’s house band did not disappoint. I’ve been in a state of syncopation all week! For lovers of the King, he will be in the building next October (2018). More information and tickets can be found on the website.

Another exciting development from this week is we are in the process of signing up to the Society of London Theatre’s Ticket Token scheme. We will be part of over 240 theatres nationwide that sell and accept theatre tokens. You will be able to purchase and redeem them at our box office. It will be a couple of weeks before it is up and running but I will be sure to let you know.

Usually I like to give a little flavour of what I will be doing next week, the meetings to be had, the tea to be drunk, etc, but I am away next week and so there will be a gap. I will send you a postcard, dear readers.

When I return it will almost be November and the countdown to Christmas will really start (Note – Theatre Tokens will make a great Christmas present!) With the countdown comes more panto shenanigans (oh yes, it does!) Look out for the cast of our panto at the Christmas Lights Switch-on in Peterborough on 18th November. Ten points to anyone who gets a photo with Widow Twanky! We hope to see you there.

Until next time…
