Episode 12

The flying carpet takes off!

Apologies dear readers that I am writing this on a Saturday and not the usual relaxed Friday afternoon. This week has been very busy with the set up and opening of our pantomime,  Aladdin. It is the first time that panto has been at The Broadway for ten years – oh yes it is!

The set looks fantastic and I have heard some of the musical numbers. I am looking forward to seeing the show for the first time this evening at our special Gala Night performance.

Going on elsewhere in the building we are into our Christmas Party season. Tonight is the second of our themed parties and next week we have a primary school staff party in before the final parties next weekend.

Next week we also have our Magical Christmas Santa Show in The Broadway Suite. We are delighted to be welcoming Whizz Kids nursery to one of the performances as an end of term treat.

A change of pace and subject matter next Wednesday with the debut of Doomwatch Wednesdays – our monthly look at alternative views on major news stories hosted by our very own alex:g. Those coming along to this launch presentation, networking and party also get a free novel, “Mindful”, for doing so. Guest speaker is author and lecturer Andy Thomas.2018 is almost upon us and there are lots of new shows in the pipeline. This afternoon I have a meeting relating to a new musical that we are hoping to have here as part of its UK tour. Another meeting, of course, means more tea – or wine as it is after 5.00pm.

It is great to see the venue busy and bustling with energy and activity with lots of different shows coming in and a variety of productions for all the family. There are five new shows to be announced soon, with the first one next week and I have been taken booking for shows into November 2019! Long may it continue!

I look forward to seeing some of you about at the pantomime over the next two weeks and in my blog next week (on Friday I promise) it will only be a few days before Christmas! I am going to take advantage of the Theatre Tokens we sell here at our box office as last minute Christmas presents. They can be used here but also in over 240 theatres around the UK. Christmas shopping – done!

Until next time…
