Freckle Productions are delighted to announce their latest production, a world premiere stage adaptation of Tabby McTat, based on the book by Julia Donaldson with illustrations by Axel Scheffler, playing at The Broadway Theatre on 15th-16th November as part of a UK Tour.
Tabby McTat is a busker's cat with the loudest of meows. He sings all day long with his best friend Fred, until one day they get separated. Tabby finds shelter and a new life with all the home comforts a cat could dream of, but he soon misses his old friend. Will they ever find each other? Brought to life on stage with original songs and inventive puppetry, Tabby McTat is a heart-warming story of friendship and loyalty.
Tabby McTat is Freckle Productions’ latest adaptation of a book by Julia Donaldson, following their acclaimed productions of Stick Man and Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales. Best known for her popular rhyming stories for children, especially those illustrated by Axel Scheffler, Julia Donaldson is the multi award-winning author of some of the world's best loved children's books, most notably the modern classic The Gruffalo which has sold over 13 million copies worldwide.
Julia Donaldson said: “I have a very soft spot for Tabby McTat, perhaps because I used to be a busker myself, and also because I am a great cat-lover. So I’m absolutely delighted that Freckle Productions are going to be dramatizing my story and I can’t wait to see it.”
Jen Sutherland and Jay Green of Freckle Productions said: “We are delighted to be bringing another new production of Julia Donaldson’s work to the stage. Tabby McTat is a fabulous book and we are thrilled to be working with Alan Lane and Tristan Parkes, two genuine visionaries, who are bringing something very special to theatre for young people and their families.”
Tabby McTat is directed by Alan Lane and designed by Heledd Rees, with music and musical direction by Tristan Parkes. The assistant director is Georgia Green. Alan Lane said: “Of all of Julia’s much-loved stories, perhaps Tabby is the one best suited to delight a live audience - the story of a feline who loves to perform. We’re so excited to introduce a young audience to this singing cat in the furry flesh!”

Scamp Theatre present
By Michael Morpurgo (Author of War Horse)
Adapted & Directed by Simon Reade
Commemorating the 100th year anniversary of the end of World War One, Private Peaceful relives the life of Private Tommo Peaceful, a young soldier awaiting the firing squad at dawn. During the night he looks back at his short but joyful past growing up in rural Devon: his exciting first days at school; the accident in the forest that killed his father; his adventures with Molly, the love of his life; and the battles and injustices of war that brought him to the front line.
Winner of the Blue Peter Book of the Year, Private Peaceful is by third Children’s Laureate, Michael Morpurgo. His inspiration came from a visit to Ypres where he was shocked to discover how many young soldiers were court-martialled and shot for cowardice during the First World War.
‘Private Peaceful at the theatre is a moving experience that not only tells the story of a young soldier’s final day in World War One, but perhaps more importantly conveys the strength of human spirit.’ – Michael Morpurgo

Join Ballet Theatre UK, with one of the most enchanting love stories of all time, “Beauty and the Beast”.
Inspired by the original tale, this ballet production tells the story of Belle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman who feels out of place in her provincial French village. When her father is imprisoned in a mysterious castle, Belle’s attempt to rescue him leads to her capture by the Beast, a grisly and fearsome monster. However the beast, cursed by a Magical Enchantress, was once a prince.
The only way the Beast may become human again is if he learns to love, and be loved in return. A magical rose bounds the Enchantress' curse; and the Beast shall remain a Beast forever if the final petal falls. Their feelings grow ever deeper as the clock ticks and petals continue to fall. Will they confess their love for one another before it is too late? After the success of last year’s huge sell-out theatre tour, Collabro will be back on the road next Spring with a mammoth 51 dates across the UK.
The musical theatre group’s ‘Road to the Royal Albert Hall’ Tour will be kicking off at South Shields Customs House in February and will see the group perform at a variety of intimate theatres and iconic venues over three months, before finishing the tour at the world renowned Royal Albert Hall in London.
Collabro, the world’s most successful musical theatre group, met in 2014 for their first rehearsal at a London pub, just a month later went on to rouse the whole of Hammersmith Apollo into a standing ovation during their first ever public performance of ‘Stars’ for the Britain’s Got Talent judges.
Having triumphed in their Semi-Final heat with over 63% of the votes, they then won the overall competition with one of the biggest majorities ever. This subsequently led to them joining Simon Cowell’s label Syco, and hence becoming label-mates with the likes of One Direction, Little Mix, Susan Boyle and Il Divo.
In the three years since the competition, Collabro have released a Number 1 debut album “Stars”, followed by “Act Two” which peaked at Number 2 in the charts in the summer of 2015. They have performed at the Royal Variety Performance; twice on Britain’s Got Talent (most recently the 10-year Grand Final compilation of past contestants – having been voted ‘The Nation’s Favourite BGT Winner’ in a national poll) and are now enormously successful internationally. Notably, they have performed for over 30 million people in Japan on Music Station on two separate occasions – receiving a Gold Disc for Best International Artist alongside Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor. They have also completed two tours of America and signed a major US record deal.
The boys performed to 7 million people at Soccer Aid 2016 to critical praise and garnered excellent press reviews for their first performance as a four-piece followed by a performance at the 2016 BBC Proms in the Park. A Summer Tour supporting the legendary Cliff Richard preceded their own sell-out 29 date Headline Tour of the UK at the end of 2017. March 2017 saw the release of their highly anticipated third studio album -‘Home’- a collection of stage classics, fan favourites and also their first original song ‘Lighthouse’, reaching Number 7 in the UK Album Chart. This record is receiving exceptional critical reviews. 2018 has already seen Collabro embark on a sold-out tour of Asia and they will perform as special guests on Barry Manilow’s UK Arena Tour in September.
Collabro are set to release their forthcoming album ‘Road To The Royal Albert Hall’ and fans will be able to get exclusive pre-sale ticket access for the tour if they pre-order the new album before 22nd June. Full details can be found at Officialcollabro.com.
